As of lately a few celebrities have adopted such style such as Christina Milian which makes note of the sheer coolness of such a trend. The UI of Instagram is almost designed for this style of artwork photography it really takes advantage of higher quality images such as 4k or higher.
Since Instagram uses a grid style # x 3 format for their pictures it makes it quite simple to find an app that can convert your picture into the awesome mural collage style such as mines, only the quality may not be of the same calibre. This is due to aspect ratio and resolution. To acquire this I take 4k photos which have 4x the number of pixels as HD and use Photoshop to edit.
The app I use to put the photos in the collage format is called InstaGrid which is great for the basis of getting the format correctly. You can do 3 x 1, 3 x 2, 3 x 3, 3 x 4, 3 x 5, and more which are perfect for small or large collage sizes. iPhones use 3 x 2 for the top collage to fit perfectly, as for Android 3 x 3 almost fits perfectly. When deciding which to use it is best to use a mixture of 3 x 2 and 3 x 3 for the optimal design of your profile.
